Heat Hero at Care & Repair
Gaynor Astley from Care & Repair in Powys was named a Heat Hero by fuel poverty charity National Energy Action (NEA) at a prestigious London awards ceremony in June for her contribution to tackling fuel poverty in Powys.
The NEA Heat Hero Award Scheme recognises individuals across England and Wales who have gone ‘above and beyond’ in helping people in their community who are struggling to keep warm in their homes. Chris Davies, MP for Brecknock and Radnorshire, presented Gaynor with her certificate in Westminster.
Gaynor has been a stalwart member of the Care & Repair in Powys team for 25 years and has made a significant contribution to helping older people struggling with the effects of fuel poverty. Gaynor has visited and assisted thousands of older people in their homes in Powys, and made sure that more than 2,000 of her elderly clients are receiving their full benefit entitlement and can afford to adequately heat their homes.
